2020 has brought many unexpected surprises and new ways of living, but there are still so many holiday traditions and winter festivities that will continue on in downtown Denver – just with added safety measures!

Our favorite way to keep busy at Hotel Indigo when you’re trying to keep safe? Taking on outdoor, winter events in Denver (don’t worry – lots of heaters and warm drinks are involved for those colder days)! See some of our top recommendations below and feel free to ask a front desk agent for more tips during your holiday stay…

  • Stroll through the neighborhood to see some of the best lighting and décor displays in Colorado, as part of 9News Parade of Lights – all complimentary throughout Denver! This year, Union Station has stepped up their popular spectacles with an outdoor light show, projected right onto Denver’s most iconic building.
  • Want to branch farther out of the neighborhood? See all of the participating locations in Denver with an interactive map of 9News Parade of Lights. Walk or drive by several elaborate holiday floats, stationed throughout town as part of Winter in the City.
  • Or, choose to take a quick car ride to the City Park neighborhood, to walk through the stunning, annual light displays at Denver Botanic Gardens or the Denver Zoo. Both locations create an immersive experience with grand light installations – perfect for a date night or fun with the family! Please note that due to popularity and capacity limits, it’s recommended to plan ahead and reserve your spots to Blossoms of Light or Zoo Lights before your stay.
  • Many also view this season as the perfect time to support local and shop small. Head just 3 blocks away to Denver’s favorite micro-district, Dairy Block, for the Aprés Holiday Market. This outdoor curation of local crafters, retailers, bars, and restaurants is open Friday-Sunday, every weekend from 11am-5pm until December 20. Browse through the festive, outdoor alley and snag a photo in front of one of the custom-designed, Santa chalk art murals on the wall! Reserve your spot here.
  • Still haven’t fully shopped ‘til ya drop? Head to Civic Center Park and the Capitol Building for the Denver Christkindl Market. This annual artisan market gives attendees the sense of international travel while staying in the heart of downtown Denver, featuring authentic German décor, drinks, and cuisine.

Along with these top-picked to-dos from our team, visitors are encouraged to browse many more festive activities from VISIT Denver, listed here. We look forward to lighting up your season during your visit to Hotel Indigo Denver Downtown!

Happy holidays from all of us to you and yours.
